We love our local authors!

The Book Dragon Shop is proud to be a supporter of indie authors through our consignment program. This program allows us to carry and display a wide variety of self-published and print-on-demand titles that we would normally not be able to have on our shelves.

If you are a local, self-published author and are interested in having us carry your book please review our consignment terms and then fill out the form below.

We look forward to being able to host in-person author events in the future and will post the information in this section.

Author Consignment Application

The Book Dragon Shop is proud to be a supporter of local, indie authors through our consignment program.

Your book maybe a candidate for consignment at The Book Dragon Shop if:

● It is self-published or not readily available from one of our wholesaler dealers.

● You live in Virginia or the surrounding area or your book is about an event that has occurred in the area or about the area.

● The title and author name appear on the spine.

● It has been proofread/edited and contains no typographical errors.

● It is paperback, hardcover or board. We do not accept spiral bound books except for select cookbooks.

IMPORTANT: If your book meets these requirements, please first read our terms and important information in this PDF. If these terms are acceptable, you can then fill out this application form for each title you wish to consign with us.

Our pricing terms follow the book industry standard of 60/40, where 60% of the retail price (author sets this price) is payable to the author, and we keep 40%.

Anything else we should know?

Things to note:

Consignment takes a lot of work. If we accept your book, we will collect a $25 non-refundable service fee for each title. Local author events are handled separately and may include a table fee.
We will stock no more than 2-5 copies for a new title (exact quantity determined by Book Dragon).
The Book Dragon Shop reserves the right to make any final decisions on accepting a book or scheduling an event.
